The Portuguese Way: from Costa Baiona - Santiago
The Portuguese Way by the coast is a new route, which has just obtained its official recognition relatively recently.
- This route begins in Porto, and continues along the coast, entering Galicia and leaving behind Portuguese lands, almost in parallel with the conventional Portuguese Way.
- Upon reaching Redondela, both roads join, and continue along the same path to Santiago.
- Despite his youth, it is one of the routes that is experiencing greater growth and greater demand, in large part due to the spectacular nature of his visits.

Itinerary
Día 1
Baiona
- Baiona, where we started the last 100 km of the Portuguese Way along the coast.
Día 2
Baiona - Vigo (23 km)
- We recommend visiting the Museo de la Carabela Pinta, where the ship that brought the first news of the discovery of America is located.
- Once you start the road, you can see the Cies Islands and the beaches of Nigrán.
Día 3
Vigo - Redondela (15 km)
- Short stage and low intensity.
- We recommend to enjoy the unique beaches that you will find on your way to Redondela.
Día 4
Redondela - Pontevedra (20 km)
- From this stage, this Way converges with the original Portuguese Way.
- We recommend a visit to the Roman bridge that crosses the Verdugo River, as well as a visit to the town of Pontesampaio.
- The stage concludes in Pontevedra, a historic city with a beautiful historical center.
Día 5
Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis (21 km)
- In this stage we enjoy the Galician rural. We also recommend a visit to the Barosa River Natural Park, with its mills and waterfalls.
- A perfect place to enjoy nature.
- The stage ends when you arrive at Caldas de Reis, famous for its spas.
Día 6
Caldas de Reis - Padrón (19 km)
- Stage marked by the Galician rural, by small villages and scattered.
- At the end of the stage we arrive at Padrón, known for its historical past and for its famous peppers.
Día 7
Padrón - Santiago de Compostela (24.5 km)
- Final stage and also the longest.
- Do not forget to go to the Pilgrim's Office to get the Compostela once you arrive in Santiago, as well as to visit its majestic Cathedral and its historic center
- If you continue with energy you can continue the Camino to Finisterre or Muxia.
