Itinerary
Día 1
Arrival in Santiago.
- Arrival on your own to Santiago and accommodation in Santiago.
Día 2
Santiago - Negreira (22 Km)
- Santiago de Compostela is abandoned starting from the spectacular and unique Obradoiro square, towards the Rua das Hortas, for the transit between the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos and the Razoi pazo. We leave on our left the church of San Frucutoso crowned by four sculptures that represent the cardinal virtues, and we continue descending this street that extends along the avenue das Hortas, Poza de bar and rúa de San Lorenzo de Trasouto, old Franciscan convent of medieval origin .
- From here the road passes between beautiful Carballeiras, eucalyptus and rural populations dotted by the valley along the Sar River, until reaching the Alto do Vento, from where a descent to Aguapesada begins.
- Once here, a strong ascent begins to Carballo, to continue and begin with a descent to Ponte Maceira; and enjoy its medieval bridge over the Tambre river, with its windmills and cobblestone streets. Later we ascend a cobbled stretch to A Chancela, to finish the stage in Negreira, where we can contemplate very different styles: from Romanesque to contemporary, passing through the Gothic or Baroque, mixed with varied civil architecture such as granaries or mills .
Día 3
Negreira - Olveiroa (31 km)
- Beautiful stage in a fully rural environment. It presents generally smooth, although frequent slopes . We will leave Negreira by the bridge over the river Barcala that does not lead up to a hill where the Church of San Xulian de Negreira (S. XVIII) is located.
- From here the route runs along the old Camino Real to Fisterra that will guide us to Zas. In this beautiful villa we can enjoy its leafy "Carballeira" or make a visit to the town hall together with the wide Praza do Campo do Carme or the Parochial Church.
- We will leave Zas to continue our journey through small villages such as A Pena, Vilaserio and Maroñas; and from here we will start the descent towards Corzón and Ponte Olveira that through a small bridge takes us to Olveiroa, and that counts with several buildings of great artistic value, especially religious ones like The Church of Santiago, as well as the beautiful views on the Fervenza Reservoir.
Día 4
Olveiroa - Cee (18 km)
- Today we will enjoy some sublime landscapes, beginning the stage bordering the reservoirs of Olveira and Castelo, until reaching Logos Hospital, whose name undoubtedly refers to pilgrimages. We take the road that takes us to Cee and we join the old Camiño Real that will not take us to the hermitages of Nosa Señora das Neves and San Pedro Mártir, where we find a hermitage dedicated to the saint, next to a fountain that they say is miraculous.
- We descend the Alto do Cruceiro da Armada which is the first place from where the sea can be seen, and from where we can already see Cabo Finisterre.
- Once in the urban center of Cee we can enjoy the Church of Santa María de Xunqueira with an important Gothic capital and surprise us with the charm of the coast; for the views, for its architecture and for its singular beauty such as the Pazo de O Cotón or the nineteenth-century building of the Fernando Blanco Foundation.
Día 5
Cee - Fisterra (16 km)
- Today's tour is a pleasant walk among pine forests, beaches and cliffs, as we leave Cee heading towards Casa do Cotón, the promenade and Praia da Seca (Praia da Concha) that takes us to Corcubión, a large town artistic and monumental interest for the beauty of its historic center and for the beauty of the Gothic church of San Marcos in gothic-sailor style.
- We will take the direction of the village of Vilar, from where after a crossroads we arrive at San Pedro da Redonda and we go to the Estorde inlet, last place before entering the Fisterra Council.
- We take a detour to reach Sardiñeiro and Monte Seoane where next is the viewpoint of Talón, and from where we contemplate the grandeur of the coast. Here we will go to Praia da Langosteira where we can enjoy the promenade between the beautiful dunes of this beach, or we can walk through the sand of the Langosteira, following the most traditional route until we reach the emblematic cruceiro de A Crus de Baixar, In the town of Fisterra, where we will visit, we highlight the church of Santa María das Areas in Fisterra and its Santo Cristo (14th century), with which we stumbled on our route to the Cape road; and the lighthouse of Finisterre.
Día 6
Fisterra - Lires (17 km)
- This is a journey that should be repeated several times, since there are so many variants that it offers that you do not know which one to stay with. It does not matter what you choose, since they are all full of beautiful prints as they pass between villages, fields, forests and the presence of the sea, with wild beaches such as O Rostro, or the Ria de Lires and contemplate a remarkable variety of birds.
- We start our route on the Langosteira beach to go to the fisterra parish of San Martiño de Duio, with a beautiful baroque church next to the Camino (18th century). Taking a small detour we passed by Escaselas and by Hermedesuxo de Baixo to the Rosal de Arena - almost always through pines and the Atlantic, preceded by corn and pine plantations - that takes us to Canosa, and from here we begin the descent towards Lires next to his dark river. In Lires we can enjoy the San Estevo temple (early seventeenth century).
- Difficulty: medium.
Día 7
Lires - Muxia (17 km)
- This last stage known as "O Camiño das Pescas", because it is used by fishermen in the area to transport their merchandise between the two villages, runs through tracks, forests and small roads, except for the descent to Muxía, which is done through roads of earth and stone.
- We leave Lires and go down to the river Castro, whose footbridge, except in drought time, is submerged, so the route has to be diverted towards the village of Porcar, which joins the original road once it passes through Frixe, with its beautiful church of Santa Leocadia.
- We continue on our way to Guisamonde and Morquintián that welcomes us with its transept, its fountain and the church of Santa María. We begin a climb to the Facho de Lourido to later descend to Xurarantes and Lourido beach, which after a short stretch of dunes, takes us to the longed-for Muxia.
- Once recovered, we will follow the tradition that takes us to visit the Sanctuary of the Virgin of La Barca and the church of Santa María, which occupies the lower part of Mount Corpiño; its Sanctuary and finally "the Pedra de Abalar" that remember the legend of the arrival of the Virgin to the coast in a stone boat and its appearance to the Apostle Santiago to encourage him in his preaching.
