Albaicín and Sacromonte Essential Route
Albaicín and Sacromonte Essential Route
Discover the essence of the city of Granada, the Albaicín, which has its roots in this historic neighborhood, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1994. As well as the picturesque neighborhood of Sacromonte. The Albaicín was for centuries the capital of one of the kingdoms most important cities in Europe, despite expanding down the hill, crossing the river and colonizing the valley, it has not lost any of its ancient essence.
In the company of expert guides you will discover El Mirador de San Cristóbal, raised on the top of the hill of the same name, walls, Moorish houses, royal palaces ..., we continue towards the heart of the old Alcazaba Cadima, crossing the Plaza de San Bartolomé, Calle del Agua, Arco de las Pesas, we arrive at the Mirador de San Nicolás, to contemplate the imposing Alhambra, with the snow-capped peaks of Sierra Nevada that rise in the background offering the most impressive view of Granada.
The New Greater Mosque gives us a hand to enter the Sacromonte, (Barrio de las Cuevas, del Flamenco and de las Zambras). Through the Cuesta del Chapíz we go down to the Paseo de los Tristes, a Christian expansion at the foot of the Darro River, a place of leisure from the 16th century until today, where we will continue along the Carrera del Darro, passing through Plaza Nueva until we reach the end of our route behind the Cathedral, where we will have a snack accompanied by some of the famous Granada tapas.
